Am I a bad mommy?

I feel horribly about Dallas. I wish that there was something we could have done... i felt like my hands were tied. I took a pic of him yesterday, that i can't even think to look at.
loved my lil boy... it was soo sudden....
Whats killing me is that, I want another kitten. I'd been trying to convince Steve to let me get a second cat to Dallas when we moved out.... and now, i REALLY want another one.
I don't want to replace him, he was one of a kind, my lil king of mischeif....

Whats worse is that, i loved his color and if i had the chance i'd get another cat the same color, only female because i'm scared to get another male. i will be for a long time i think....

but, i just feel soo bad wanting another one, thinking that no one will understand...

its soo weird, after missy died, who we knew was sick, i didn't want to THINK about another pet for a long time ...
but with Dallas going soo quick, i miss his spirit. he was still a kitten...

I am going to search the forum to find out what happened, in the meantime - here's my pov about getting another cat...

...DO IT. People I know who have lost an animal say that the best thing they ever did was to fill the empty whole with another animal to love and take care of. Not to replace it, just to have another place to focus the love.

As long as you aren't trying to replace Dallas I don't see the problem. . .I'm always looking to add a third to my brood. . . .and I don't that shows that I love marty and minou any less. . . . .

I swore I'd not get another dog after Daisy, that I couldn't go through it again...but within two weeks, I was going crazy being here all alone, and I thought "why not give another unwanted pup a good home, and I DO give them a good home...it won't replace Daisy, it will be a tribute to Daisy"...so Saf, you go right ahead and get yourself another friend....rescue one...*huggers* and thank Dallas for letting you love him while you had him.

I think i've decided to let Steve pick out the new family member.
Yesterday, i really wanted a new one right away ... but i think it was more that i nwated permissiona nd to tihnk it was okay thati go look at lil kitties ...
there was some cute ones around town at the ospca and what not.. but i'm going to allow steve to choose

I'm so sorry about Dallas!

After we lost both Lacey and then Boon within such a short time, we waited to get another dog thinking that we weren't giving ourselves enough greiving time. We did have Parker around a bit to help us through, but I really wish that I had gotten another dog sooner than we did. It's definitely not a replacement kind of thing - just something to concentrate on besides the grief.

RIP Dallas.
