Beside me owning patches the pit bull I own a husky/hound mix. The problem i have is when i come home from work, he jumps on me as i am coming in the door way. Now i dont mind them greeting me but he is realy high strung and can cause a problem from time to time trying to get in the door. I worried that one of these days he get out and get hit. He is set to fixed on the 15 so hopefully it will calm him down. Any training trips that could help me? Patches is good when i come home but tends to get excited to the point of peeing. I will have new photos up and some video done of them in a week or 2 just bought my wife a new video cameria for her Birth day.

You need to ignore him when you come home - get in the door, put your stuff down, etc. Then sit in a chair, call him to you and have him sit before you greet him. You could also 'desensitize' him to your comings and goings by going out, and staying out for a few minutes, coming back in - then gradually increase the time you are gone. Don't make a big deal about leaving or coming back.

I don't even talk to my dogs when I get home. I come in, let them out of their crates, go upstairs, I go outside then bring them out one at a time. Once outside then I pet them and stuff. If I don't do it that way, I will have pee all over my house because when Spencer is excited, he pees and when he has a full bladder from the day, I am just asking for a mess.
I think you need to train him that he needs to sit at the door and wait for you, if he is jumping, totally ignore him. I really don't have any easy fix answers.

*L* Me too Melinda! But if he tries to jump on me I jump backward and he knows to sit. If only EVERYone who came in would stop petting him and praising him for it then he'd stop altogether! I always make him sit before I'll pet him.

Malone is the same - he'll jump all over you if you let him. He knows that I won't greet him right away. I come in and put all my stuff down, check the answering machine, etc - and then I'll greet him. He knows when it's time and will lay down for a belly rub as his choice of greeting.
Since Hazel's surgery, I have been doing things a bit different. I absolutely cannot let her jump on me, and I used to just turn to the side and put my hand out in a stop motion. Then when she was calm I'd pet her. Now I pretty much throw my stuff at the table next to the door and hope it lands right and get on the floor right away so she can mug me with kisses. Once she calms down a bit, then I can get up and go do whatever (which is pick up my stuff off the floor half the time ).
