Engagement and Wedding Reception update and Song advice
Alrighty... so Keith and I booked a wedding at a beautiful place out in Long Island, NY (I can post the website if you want). We come home, do the list with our families and it turns out our wedding is going to be bigger than expected, well over 300 people. It's great that we have SO many close people in our lives, but we didn't expect to have SO many "must invites", and we REALLY cut it down. The reception hall we booked (beautiful grounds, lakes, swans, flowers all over, bridges, you name it) could not fit that many people.
So of course we love the place so much we decided to use it for our engagement party (Plus, we already put a deposit and didn't want to lose our money). We finally found a beautiful "Chateau" to hold the wedding reception on a date the Church could accomodate... and I'm really happy we have our dates and places set. I also think I found the bridemaids dresses, which is nice (I can post the link for that too, if you want). The engagement party is totally handled, we have everything booked, music, favors, etc- except Keith wants a new suit, and I need to buy a new dress... AND we can't think of a song to dance to. We don't have A song... we never really paid attention to our first slow dance, lol!! Any suggestions? I've been searching websites for wedding songs, but everything seems so typical. I like Heart's 'Alone'... but I guess it doesn't make perfect sense  Also, for the wedding, we need a wedding song. And for me to dance with my father and Keith with his mother. See, my father and I always listened to Frank Sinatra when he would drive me to work or school... and we LOVED to sing "Something Stupid" in the car. The lyrics make NO sense, but I wish we could use that, since it always makes me think of him... though to anyone else it would be weird with those lyrics for a father and daughter, lol!! Any ideas for that?

All my sisters used a song called 'daddy's little girl' or something like that, don't know who it's by though.

That's the 1st song I thought about Angel when you mentioned Sinatra. "The way you look tonight" is such a beautiful song.
Wedding Songs, these would be some I'd consider I swear John Michael Can I have this Danse or You Needed Me Anne Murray Wind Beneath my Wings Bette Midler When you say nothing at all Alison Krauss Because You Love Me Celine Dion

LOL, Linda!!! Golden Girls, those are great picks... I was thinking I Swear for Keith and I, that's a great song. Wind Beneath My Wings is my sister and my song, ever since we saw Beaches as a kid... since it's about sisters and all it makes sense, lol.
Because You Love Me reminds me of band, because I won my school a gold medal for NYSSMA playing the solo in the ballad- so as much as I love the song, I don't want to use it. The other two I don't know, I'll need to find them online and listen to them!

I like Joe Cocker's version of You are so Beautiful.
 But my stepsister stole it for her wedding.  I always sing it as terribly as I can to my boyfriend when he does something really unattractive. My friend used Etta James "At last", but I kinda thought it was too fake for them, so I made them play Sarah McWhatever's Ice Cream after it (my friend's a hard core Sarah McWhatever fan- I won't even try to spell her name.. ).

My sister's wedding song was "At Last"!!!! I LOVE "You're So Beautiful" I just didn't of it as a slow dance song. You think? LOL, I could only imagine you're bf's reaction!
