Excellent article Angel! Many pet lovers are led to believe the PETA are there to help their beloved family pet. WRONG! Pet ownership and PETA are mutually exclusive. IMO, PETA is more like an eco-terrorist group, or in this case, a pet-terroist group! PETA supporters, wake up!

Just some stats on PETA's view on euthanasia: "In 1999, PETA took in 2,103 companion animals, and found new owners for 386, with the remainder euthanized.51 Of the animals not reclaimed by their owners, 86% (2,278) were killed in 200452 and 93% (1,946) in 2005.53 The San Francisco Chronicle reported in 1991 that after rescuing 18 rabbits and 14 roosters from a research facility, PETA killed them because they "didn't have the money" to care for them.54" source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PETA#Policy_on_euthanasia

Your article certainly was an eye opener for me and all other animal lovers who think PETA is a wonderful orgaization that strives to protect and rescue animals. It seems to me most of the animals they "rescue" would be better served by organizations with better money managing skills. You would thing that with 29 million in profits they could manage to foster or find decent homes for these poor animals. As a volunteer for a rescue orgaization myself I can tell you we find homes for more animals on far less resources than that. Perhaps animal lovers should find a more deserving charity to fund.

Thank you for your extemely enlightening article about PETA. Now I feel bad that I have sent them donations in the past thinking that I was helping animals. I'll send any future donations to my local animal rescue group from now on. "Yay" for Bobbie and the Strays in conjunction with the ASPCA's Care-A-Van. They have consistently helped me a great deal over the years to spay and neuter all my cats and dogs and are located in Ozone Park, Queens. They are one of the very best assets for the stray animals in my community.

I recieved this email from PETA regarding thier stance on domestic pets in general and I thought I would share.. BSL is only one step in PETA's effort to eliminate ALL pets. PETA does believe in total animal liberation. This includes companion animals. We advocate for a no-birth nation, which means that no more puppies and kittens will be born because all current companion animals have been spayed or neutered. The reason being because the world we live in is no place for a domesticated animal. There are people who torture animals, hoarders you gather them for experiments and cars that can hit them. Because of this animals are best kept in doors unless on a harness of some sort to keep them out of harms way. It is not an ideal situation, but it is the best thing that we can do for them and one day we will hopefully live in a world where all animals are free.

pit bulls are wonderful, loving dogs and the best friends anyone could have. as with all dogs, pit bulls act as they are taught. i appreciate people putting out good information about these sweet animals, especially when animal organizations who promote animal rights do not include all animals. thank you!

I think that this article was very informative. I was one of those naive people who thought that PETA was out to help our animals and I would have donated money to them had I no read this first. Thank you for opening my eyes on the reality of these people. Now I am really curious and want to do more research to see what they are really all about.

Although Peta tries to help animals, they are being way too extreme, scorning every celebrety who refuses to go vegan for them or whatever. It seems to me they have gotten way over their heads, feeding kids graphic information and saying that everyone who doesn't give up their beloved ice creams is an animal hater. I would reccomend hsus.org as a good animal rights site.

This really helped me with my "PETA corruption report for school." Thanks!!!!!!

Excellent and informative article. I had no idea that PETA was so militant when it comes to pets.

It's a tough world. Still, the animals are better off alive in a world where they can be loved and appreciated and have the chance to enjoy life for themselves. Killing them off, the way that PETA plans, just to avoid some pain and suffering is denying them the opportunity to live for selfish and mentally ill reasons.

Also, Laura, HSUS is a branch of PETA since Wayne Pacelle took over. They are not good for the animals. They pretended to participate in the Katrina rescue efforts, got about 30 million dollars in donations to help them do that, then scrammed.

Man,if they think they can kill off my pets, they have another thing coming. I have a dog and a cat,and although they can do things I may not want them to,I love them to bits.If anybody thinks that getting rid of domesticated animals is a good thing and peopel will just let it happen, they have no idea how a pet-owner relationship works. And the whole "Pets are slaves" bit is funny.Slaves are living beings that force you to do whatever thier masters want, and receive no pay.By that defintion, we're the slaves and our pets are our masters!

I have never liked PETA and never will. I just recentally heard about the killings of animals from the organization and it's absurd. (I mean them of course.) They are major hypocrites and like petakillsanimals.com says, they are the "angels of death" in my eyes now. My dad was curious about the website I mention and it's credit for the truth. I started searching more and call me gullable if you wish but I believe it. The numbers are there on more than one website. I guess it's just hard to believe that people that were SO for the rights of animals would kill them in great numbers.

I learned the truth about PETA by reading this informative article: http://www.nokillnow.com/PETAIngridNewkirkResign.htm

I wholeheartedly agree with what Angel said about Ingrid Newkirk, maybe she should either be "Banned" or euthanized.
