Hi everyone! My name is Chelsea, I am a Pharaoh Hound / Pit Bull mix, and I’m so thankful that all of you voted for ME to be the August POM! See, I wasn’t always so used to this wonderful attention and love. My life got off to a pretty horrible start. I was a stray in the Bronx in a very bad neighborhood through the middle of the winter. I was thrown from a car, injured, hungry and cold when I was picked up by animal care and control who took me to their shelter. At only 28lbs. I was frightened, and mostly worried that I wouldn't find a mom and dad to love me for life. I stayed in the small metal cage at the shelter for a few days and then one day my mom came and took me home...
Since then my life has been great. I am 45 lbs now and very healthy! My parents taught me to go to the bathroom outside... see, since I was a stray I just would go whenever I had the urge. So my mom and dad walked me every few hours and I learned to love going for walks! I even have a little brother (well older, but littler). He is a little grumpy, but we have lots of fun playing ball and going in the baby pool! I really love him, and I know he loves me… even if he tries to act mean.
My hobbies include playing tug with anyone who can keep up with me, running, playing ball, stealing my dad's socks and bringing them in the yard, stretching, going on walks, and my favorite- laying with my mom while she watches TV. My dad plays with me and taught me many tricks. I sleep in the bed with my parents and snuggle with them, talk about movin’ on up! I eat yummy healthy food and my mom cuddles with me all day long. Tonight my mom painted my toe nails a pretty burgundy color and my dad gave me a bath. Every day is a new adventure for me... I also have a cousin named Maximus and we play all of the time too!
I am truly blessed that I have a family that loves me and cares for me so much! Most dogs don't have what I have and I am very thankful for it all. I am so happy and I am so glad I got a second chance on life. My mom always says, "There is nothing like a shelter dog". We are so grateful for everything. I know what it is like to have nothing, so I am happy with whatever I get. I hope you go to a shelter and adopt a dog too someday. My mom and dad say it was the best decision they ever made… that they needed me as much as I needed them.
