Hi Everyone,

My name is Spencer and I am a 2.5 year old tri-color beagle who was born on November 21, 2004.  I feel honored to be voted Pet Of The Month for June and I would like to start off by thanking you all.  My Mom says that I am a special beagle because I have something that no other beagle has.  You want to know what that is????  I only have half a tail, and here’s why:

When I was just young, about 4 weeks old at the beginning of January 2005, something tragic happened to me.  At the time, I was still living with my fur mommy and we were being kept in a heated pen outdoors.  One night, the curiosity got the best of me and I just had to go check out where Mommy went.  So, through the door I went to quickly find out that it was really cold out there, I had no idea what a Canadian winter really was until that point.  I was too little to be able to get back into our comfy warm bed and my tail froze before morning.  By the day my new Mommy came to visit, half of my tail had actually fallen off.  My mommy says that is why she chose me, because I was so special and unique.

I can also tell you this one thing for sure, I am 100% hound.  I walk with my nose to the ground and will follow a scent when I find one.  I also let out a great big Arrrooooo when I am happy.  Acting like a typical beagle is my favorite thing to do.

The rule on my street is that no one is allowed to walk in front of my house unless I say it’s ok.  I am the boss of the road and no one may pass.  If you try, I will let the whole world know that we have an intruder.  I am the best security system that you will ever find.

Well, I have to go now, roads to protect, people to sniff…  It’s a rough life being a beagle.
